Vocational Training planning
Construction Boot Camp
Shasta College, in partnership with the Shasta Builders’ Exchange and the Shasta Private
Industry Council is designing a Construction Boot Camp to train entry-level construction
workers for local contractors’ summer construction staffing needs. Participants must
have a high school diploma, GED or State equivalency. At the end of the two-week
program, employers will come to the class to interview directly for their hiring needs.
Certified Caregiver Training
Our first entry-level caregiver training program class is scheduled to begin in mid-May.
This 26-hour employer-driven training program will be recognized as a base that can be
used to establish a “Certified Caregiver” certificate, indicating the recipient has attained a
level of training that can be used universally by residential care facilities in their hiring
process. Prior to entering the 26-hour program, applicants must pass health and
background checks, and have first aid and CPR certification. Class sizes will be limited
to 12-18 students, will provide a job search component with follow up, and ultimately
will provide certification for up to 80 participants.
