Wendy Zanotelli is the CEO of the SMART Center. She brings over 20 years of C-Level experience, as COO and CEO in credit unions and non-profits. She has the foundational knowledge and vision to lead SMART into the future, especially in today's quickly emerging and changing environment. More importantly, she has a heart and passion for the important work of SMART. Marie Granberry has been the CFO for SMART since 2016. She brings over 20 years of financial management and human resource experience working in for profit and non-profit organizations. She holds an MBA with the concentration in Accounting and is a SHRM Senior Certified Professional. Marie has a passion for workforce and is committed to serving the communities in the North State.
All Counties Support Team
Christie is the Program Manager. She has been with SMART since 2009. Christie was born and raised in Shasta County and is a graduate of Simpson University with a Bachelor Degree in Liberal Studies.
Lori is a Shasta County native and is the Supervisor to all of the SMART Job Centers in all 5 counties. She brings with her over 25 years of sales and marketing experience. Lori has been employed with SMART since 2016. Her passion is in serving her community, and she measures her own success upon the results and success of the clients she serves. Her favorite part about working for SMART is the rewarding feeling to see someone turn their life around and create a better life for themselves.
Betsey is born and raised in Redding. She graduated from Chico State with a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration. Betsey has worked at SMART since 2010. In her time at SMART, she has served as Career Advisor, assisting job seekers in educational programs and job search as well as assisting businesses with their hiring needs. She currently serves as the Program Supervisor for the Redding, Weaverville, and Weed offices. Betsey has also worked at Shasta College under the California Adult Education Program and the Registered Apprenticeship program for the logging and Forest Worker Equipment program. She loves the family atmosphere that SMART cultivates as well as assisting the community that she was raised in.
Christy is the Program Manager at the Coastal Regions. She moved from Lodi, CA in 2006 where she was born and raised, to live in beautiful Del Norte County, near the ocean, river and redwoods. She started her career in workforce services in 2007 as a Career Advisor, assisting both adult and youth job seekers. Her favorite part of the job is to see the many successes that happen with clients who find employment, especially after all the work they put in to training and job seeking.
Carrian brings with her more than 20 years of management & customer service experience throughout California. She believes that kindness to strangers is contagious and that everyone deserves the opportunity to obtain gainful employment. Carrian is passionate about building community relationships throughout our far northern region and is dedicated to making a difference in the lives of job seekers by helping them find a position that gives them purpose as well as the means to support their family and lifestyle for generations to come. Prior to joining the Team at SMART, Carrian served her community as the Guest Experience Officer at Turtle Bay Exploration Park.
Gina works in our Administration Department, as an Accounting Specialist. She brings with her over 20 years of payroll and human resource experience. She moved to the Shasta County area back in 2013, and has been with SMART since 2019. Her favorite part about working for SMART is the work that she does. She loves being able to support each and every staff member through her efforts in accounting, payroll, human resources, and benefits administration.
Ben has been at SMART since 2019, prior to that he worked as a Project Manager and a Long-Range Planner for the phone company. He holds a BS in Ecology and Natural History. Ben has a passion for studying interconnected systems and digging into the numbers that drive those systems. Here at SMART he keeps the team up to date with all or our reporting needs. He drives process improvement, ensuring our team at SMART works smarter to give you the best possible service.
Del Norte County Team
Amanda is a Career Advisor for SMART at the Del Norte location. She is originally from the Bay Area and relocated to Crescent City, CA in 2009. Amanda has an AS in Behavioral Science from College of the Redwoods and is currently finishing her Bachelor’s degree in Social Work at Humboldt State University. Amanda has 4 years of experience working in the workforce development field. Her passion for helping underserved populations, with an emphasis on the re-entry population, makes her even more passionate about working with special grants and the clients she serves.
Imelda is a Career Advisor with Smart Workforce Center at the Del Norte location. She was born in raised in Del Norte County, and has worked in workforce services serving Adults, Dislocated Workers, and Youth since 2015. Her favorite part of the job is helping somebody go through an experience that makes them happy, confident and successful. Through occupation-specific training programs, she has been able to see hundreds of clients reach their career goals and become financially independent.
Humboldt County Team
Angela graduated from Howard University in Washington, D.C. with a Bachelor of Business Administration. Career background includes banking, home health, managed healthcare, and working for nonprofits. She came to Humboldt County 9 years ago and the beauty of the area captured her heart. She volunteers at a local faith-based transitional home for women and children. Other interests include reading, traveling with her husband, attending her local church and spending as much time as possible with family, especially her grandchildren. She loves her role as Program Supervisor because it allows her to make a direct impact on the economic development of her community, improve the quality of life for job seekers and contribute to the professional development of the local members of the Smart team.
Sunshine is a Business Services Representative who believes success is directly related to the quality of service being provided. She is passionate about workforce equity, service and inspiring curiosity in others. Her professional experience includes, employee development, consultation, building effective teams, and managing organizational change. Sunshine is excited to be working for Smart and appreciates the opportunity to be making a difference within the communities we serve in Humboldt County. “A rising tide lifts all boats”. -J.F.K.
Lindsie is a Career Advisor (or should I say the Youth Career Advisor) for the Humboldt Smart Team. The majority of Lindsies career has been working with people in relationship building/ social service fields. Lindsie has always loved the way people interact together and watching dynamics change, build, and grow. She is very excited to work with the Youth in Humboldt County because she wants to work with them to show the county what a great asset Youth are to our community.
Kian is the Career Advisor managing the Humboldt County wide Opioid Crisis NDWG. Kian is originally from Palo Alto and moved to Arcata in 2005 to attend Humboldt State University. There he studied Psychology and wet through the MFT Program for Counseling. If it involves sports, flying through powder, adventuring with his dog, or just hanging with friends and laughing until sides are split, Kian will be there! An undeniable amount of passion is put into his work, with a true affinity for the demographic that Kian serves!
Ashley is the Job Center Representative for the Humboldt Smart Team. She has lived in Humboldt County for the past 10 years and holds a BA from Humboldt State University as well as an AA from College of the Redwoods. Her past work experience includes the Department of Education, banking, and years of customer service. She has always had a passion for working with people and is looking forward to utilizing her skills to help the community through this outstanding non-profit organization.
Virginia is a Career Advisor at the Humboldt County Smart Business Resource Center. Virginia graduated from the Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. Her schooling, volunteer work in crisis counseling, and now her role with SMART have all been dedicated to helping people. Growing up in McKinleyville, she is particularly passionate about helping those in her home community, and giving those in Humboldt the opportunity to succeed. She knows that when the individuals of Humboldt are given a chance to grow, then all of Humboldt County will continue to flourish.
Shasta County Team
Gail is a transplant from Colorado who is proud to now call California her home. She has worked with young adults for over a decade and with several non-profit agencies. From teaching young people how to properly maintain a trail, to guiding them as they pave the pathway to their careers, she has enthusiasm for every person she assists. Gail considers herself a mentor in her role as a career adviser and believes in inspiring confidence and creativity in her clients.
In Workforce Development & Counseling for over 20 years, Laura currently works for the Smart Center and Shasta College. She has her BA in Sociology and Art from Rutgers, New Brunswick, NJ and MS in Educational Counseling from University of LaVerne, CA. She grew up in New Jersey and has lived in California for many years. Laura finds joy in helping people with her career and educational goals. She has been in supervisory, teaching, writing, and coaching roles over the years. SMART offers a uniquely tangible and positive opportunity to make a difference. She loves spending time with family and friends. Her love of nature and outdoors includes travel, photography, hiking, biking, tennis, and camping.
Misty is the Quality Assurance Specialist. She has been at Smart for 12+ years in Redding CA. Misty holds an Associates degree from Shasta College with a concentration in Accounting, as well as a Bachelors degree in Business Administration and Human Resources from Simpson University. Throughout her career she has gained knowledge working with Special Grants, Dislocated Workers, Adults and Young Adults. She brings this knowledge of the various programs together to ensure excellence in our Program files.
Rachelle has dedicated her life to working with youth in her community. After completing her BA degree at Simpson University in Liberal Studies, Rachelle immediately began her dream of working alongside young adults in Shasta County. She has served as a case manager for the past 10 years serving nonprofit organizations to assist foster youth and young parents. She holds certification in CSEC, Trauma Informed Care and is an active participant in the Education Advisory Council and Homeless Youth Alliance. Rachelle passion for seeing youth succeed extends beyond her professional commitment. Rachelle and her husband Frank are certified Foster Parents in Shasta County and have 7 beautiful children. Rachelle is excited to serve at the Smart Center where she has the privilege of coming alongside young adults as they become self-sufficient through education and employment in order to achieve their dreams.
Kristi is a veteran of the non-profit sector. Living in Redding for the past twenty years, she has worked at Turtle Bay Exploration Park, Habitat for Humanity Shasta Cascade and One SAFE Place. As Career Advisor at Smart, she manages the Special Grants program and enjoys site development and employing people to assist with natural disasters. Hailing from Wisconsin, she graduated from Humboldt State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations.
Ashley holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Leadership and is currently working toward her Master’s Degree. Her most recent experience has been for Simpson University for the past 3 years working as a Career Counselor. She also worked as an adjunct faculty member with a focus on planning and development of Career Planning course curriculum for the Business Program. Prior to that, Ashley worked 5 years in Human Resources in various functions. Her knowledge and experience include: management and oversight of Career Services functions, Career Development and soft skills workshops, job fairs, and Career Exploration. She additionally oversaw various program a Professional Development Program, Apprentice Program, leading Orientation, Training and Development initiatives, and assisting hiring for variety of clients and backgrounds.
Anna has worked at The SMART Center sinc 2018. She is the Job Center Representative in our job center and a local business owner of over 8 years. Anna is a recent college graduate, holding her Bachelor’s in Interdisciplinary Studies, with a focus in Business, Psychology, and Counseling. Her favorite part about working here at SMART is hearing all of the amazing testimonials that come from our clients, as well as seeing the impact we make on our local economy. Anna’s passion in life is to support and encourage others in stepping out of their comfort zones, and creating a life they’ve always dreamed of living, all while keeping a positive outlook and having a good time.
Ryan is a Business Services Representative - Clerical Support for Smart, posting jobs for local businesses in 5+ counties. Born and raised in Shasta County, a graduate from Shasta High School and later with an AA in Psychology from Shasta College. Ryan has spent most of his professional career in customer service helping those in need in the community.
Paulette has worked at the Smart Workforce Center since 2015 as a Clerical Specialist and currently as an Intake Coordinator. She enjoys working at Smart because it gives her the opportunity to assist the community with acquiring jobs and starting on their career paths. She has worked in Customer Service for 35 years, along with 10 years in Accounts Receivables. She lived in the Monterey County most of her life and moved to Shasta County in 2012.
Donica Is a Career Advisor at Smart. She works specifically with our Nurses who join our program. She was born and raised in Mendocino County and has been in Shasta County for 20 years. She has worked alongside a few different agencies in Shasta County with one common goal to see each client thrive in our program and in that process fulfilling her passion to help people achieve a better path in life.
Chris is a Career Advisor at SMART Business Resource Center, where she is able to assist her clients with creating resume’s, mock interviews and other employment related services. Career advising and recommendations for how to follow up the resume are also part of the services offered. She can often connect clients to businesses in their industry by providing job leads, on the job training or vocational schooling opportunities. Before coming to SMART, Chris worked with the community for many years assisting people with job skills, life skills, obtaining benefits for themselves and their family and locating resources in the community. She helped create and was Project Coordinator of the Work Readiness Event which assisted individuals with removing their job barriers and finding employment.
Siskiyou County Team
Ashlie is the Lead Career Advisor for the Smart Workforce Center. What makes Ashlie so uniquely qualified is both her administrative and financial experience. What inspired her to work for the Smart Center is her passion for helping others achieve their goals and aspirations. She is a local, born and raised in Siskiyou County and a member of QVIR(Quartz Valley Indian Reservation). Ashlie is excited to be able to offer support in her hometown community to both residents and local businesses.
Ali is the Community Workforce Specialist in Siskiyou County. She is a Weed Highschool graduate and knows the county well. She has many years of customer service experience and in her more recent years she was an eligibility worker for Siskiyou County Human Services CalWORKs and Cal Fresh programs. Ali enjoys Siskiyou and all its beautiful surroundings and the amazing people. This career path allows her to assist, support and connect with her fellow neighbors. Therefore, she chose to be a part of SMART! She finds great joy and fulfillment when a client returns full of excitement and gratitude for helping them to the next step of their journey. She looks forward to helping her fellow Siskiyou residents accomplish their goals and begin their own career.
Renee is a career advisor at Smart Workforce Center in Weed. She recently returned from Maryland to California, where she had attended college at the University of California at Santa Cruz. Bringing a background in teaching and financial accounting to the Smart Workforce Center, she is excited to help Siskiyou County job seekers find employment while building the community’s prosperity.
Trinity County Team
Nanci is the Community Workforce Specialist for our Trinity County office. Nanci’s career includes over 20 years of experience as a Store Manager for Longs/CVS throughout several California cities including Redding, Red Bluff, Eureka, and Weaverville. She is very familiar with the communities that Smart serves. Most recently Nanci served as the Human Resources Manager for Trinity Hospital and is currently a Department Manager at Holiday Market in Weaverville. Nanci has been a part of the Trinity County community for over a decade and has significant experience working in human resources, business networking and development, and California labor law. Nanci is committed to partnering with local businesses and assisting with workforce staffing needs. She understands firsthand the challenges that come with connecting job seekers and businesses in a rural community.
