The SEC has issued proposed regulations that allow anyone to invest in new and existing businesses using online crowdfunding portals. The SEC has asked for comments on the rules by February 3, 2014 and is expected to issue final rules in mid-2014. Click here to see what will be new.

Business Training Available for Redding Businesses

Small business is the backbone of our local economy. With funding provided by a grant from the City of Redding, Superior California Economic Development is providing no-cost business training and coaching for qualifying small businesses operating in Redding. An informational meeting to hear about this business development program will be held on Thursday, June 27th, at 5:30 – 7:00 pm at 350 Hartnell Avenue, Suite A, Redding.
Attendees will learn about the Microenterprise Development Program (MDP) which offers help with writing a business plan, planning for growth, marketing, preparing for financing, and honing other business management skills.

Shasta County’s Enterprise Zone Expanded

Shasta County’s Enterprise Zone has expanded – which means, good news for smaller businesses from Palo Cedro to Burney. EDC is working on incorporating the expansion street ranges into the existing street ranges. As soon as this information is updated and complete, it will be posted for business use.
Along with the expansion to the Enterprise Zone in Shasta County, previous talk from Capitol Hill in Sacramento about changing Enterprise Zone regulations are still in effect. Lobbying is still taking place in Sacramento for finalized modifications to be put into effect in the new bill, however no one knows when or if these changes will begin. Stay tuned to find out.
